My Mom had only had Ruby for about 6 months before my mom was murdered. She had talked about Ruby often. She told me she was the sweetest dog ever and she loved her very much. I knew Ruby was older and that she had Lupus. We were on the first flight out the very next morning. I knew I was bringing Ruby home with me. Often I thought my mom got this dog just for me.

I am not sure I could of survived the first 2 1/2 years following the murder without her. We were both very much traumatized. We believe Ruby and my moms other Chi were with her when she was attacked. When we picked the dogs up they both ran to the exact room the murder had taken place. We lost Ruby to kidney disease 3-15-20

It was super hard losing her.
She was the best, She was loved, She is missed.

When we were in WA I found a bottle with Rubys prescription pills. Ruby Love. Love was my moms maiden name she went back to after she divorced. Yes Ruby went to horse shows. This was the first horse show. She very much was a sad dog. The hat was for the sun. Because of the lupus she did not tolerate the sun and we minimized her exposure to the sun.

Most of time she was tolerant of the grand kids.
Finally we had to tell them she is a grouchy old lady and let her be.

Ruby was 14 pounds, a little heavy a carrying her for any length of time. It took alittle bit to get her used to a stroller.
She would never of been a Service Dog,
she had no real task,
she had no Public Access Skills.
She was good in the stroller as long as no one talked to me.

We had a 2nd service for my mom here in CA. My sister Barbi flew here from WA. We took her and Ruby to see the ocean.

Most mornings that first year were in a chair with her. I would do a devotional and journal some of my thoughts out. I had not seen the picture of my mom with this dog til weeks after I got home. This pink plaid flannel blanket I recognized was at my moms house. I asked my sister Barbi if it was still there, I would like to have it. Ruby

She would be so excited when I would get it out. It became our morning chair blanket.

This blanket with angels on it, someone told me to bring back to CA and give my cousin Michelle. Her mom had given it to my mom. One thing we learned was Ruby could not tolerate being cold. I starting using this blanket for her. It was weeks later I looked over the side of the bed and saw it was embroidered in white

We did a celebration of life for a 1 year memorial.

Every year I dont know what to do. 2021 my sister Barbi came, the day before we went to our dads graveside. 2022 LouLu helped me through the day. We tested and passed AKC Advanced and Performer Trick Dog. We got our first Dock Dive Lesson.

Some of my first smiles at a time when I wasnt sure I could smile again were thanks to Ruby.
When I began to search for another dog, I did not want another chihuahua . I did not want to feel I was replacing her. She was one of a kind. She helped me through the worst time in my life.
I gave her many messages to give my mom when she left.
